We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Fire Alarm Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining fire alarm systems across a variety of commercial, residential and industrial projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your technical expertise in a challenging environment, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance are met. The ideal applicant will possess strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, with proven experience in system design and construction processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation process, including the utilisation of hand tools and power tools to assemble, wire, and test systems on-site.
- Interpret schematics, technical drawings, and electrical diagrams to facilitate accurate system installation and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate project timelines and ensure seamless integration of fire alarm systems within building infrastructure.
- Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of fire alarm systems, diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions.
- Carry out servicing and remedial works where required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians throughout job role.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system designs, modifications, and maintenance procedures for compliance purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience and knowledge of fire alarm systems within commercial, residential or industrial settings.
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge relevant to fire alarm installation and maintenance.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and interpreting technical schematics effectively.
- Familiarity with construction processes, health & safety regulations, and industry standards such as BS 5839-1 & 6.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of AOV systems an advantage.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in fire safety engineering or electrical engineering are highly desirable.
