Pastoral Lead/Designated Safeguarding Lead (12 month FTC)Make a Real Difference at Ryefields
Do you want a role where relationships, safeguarding and wellbeing are at the heart of everything you do?
Ryefields is seeking a Pastoral Lead & Designated Safeguarding Lead (FTC) on a 12-month fixed-term contract to play a key role in supporting the safety, welfare, personal development and engagement of our pupils with ASC and SEMH needs.
This is a hands-on, relational leadership role where you will work closely with pupils, staff, families and external professionals to help young people overcome barriers and thrive.
The Role
You will:
- Lead on the school's safeguarding and pastoral culture
- Provide targeted support around wellbeing, anxiety, self-esteem and resilience
- Support attendance, punctuality, behaviour and engagement
- Advise staff on effective ASC and SEMH strategies
- Oversee Student Support Plans, Risk Assessments and pastoral interventions
- Support pupils through transitions and prepare them for future pathways
- Work closely with families, safeguarding teams and external professionals
- Monitor risk and support the reduction of behaviours that cause concern
- Deliver or coordinate wellbeing and social skills programmes
- Support and develop staff to ensure consistent approaches across the school
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is calm, caring, organised and passionate about helping young people succeed.
You will have:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN, ASC or SEMH setting
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
- Knowledge of behaviour management and pastoral support
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Confidence using ICT and electronic systems
- A flexible, approachable and resilient attitude
Experience or qualifications in counselling, psychology, mental health or pastoral support would be desirable. DSL Level 3 or extensive safeguarding experience is also advantageous.
A full driving licence is required.
