Overview
The Building & Facilities Officer will play an important role in improving the functionality, safety and appearance of our Oxford office, working closely with the Office and Facilities Manager. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, with a hands-on approach to support with all aspects of facilities, maintenance, safety, security and office enhancements. The position\’s primary objective is to cultivate and maintain an environment that places the utmost importance on the well-being, comfort, efficiency, and functionality of all office occupants—be they employees, clients, or visitors.
Responsibilities
- Carry out daily facility checks of the office and external grounds, completing basic maintenance repair works where required
- Maintain compliance with local health and safety regulations and environmental standards
- Ensuring all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) operate efficiently and safely
- Conduct safety inspections and audits
- Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint of our office
- Oversee the work of external maintenance staff and service providers
- Generate purchase orders and track monthly invoices
- Cover Reception as and when required
- Assist with internal event coordination and manage conference room set up for meetings/training
- Prepare regular reports for management, outlining key performance metrics and improvement recommendations
- Contribute to the annual ISO/SOC2 office recertification with regards to facility processes
What we are looking for
Required attributes:
- General office maintenance repair skills, including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating & minor electrical works
- Proven experience in building and facilities, preferably in a corporate or professional services environment
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Attention to detail and delivering high-quality results
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under tight deadlines
