Aurora's Software Solutions team is building the global investment analytics platform for the energy transition. Widely adopted by leading energy companies and investors, the platform changes the way that energy market analytics is performed and delivered. To best enable the user experience, both through product development and analysis delivery, Aurora’s global Client Solutions team provides the critical end-to-end interface between the underlying model development and the end user.

We are seeking a motivated and client focused (Senior) Power Markets Analyst to join the team in Oxford to support the usage & adoption of Aurora’s software suite in Europe, with a focus on the GB power market. This role is critical in the expansion of Aurora's software offering, working cross-functionally between the Advisory, Product, Research, and Commercial teams at Aurora, and it demands a combination of power markets expertise and proficiency in Aurora's software products. The successful candidate will combine astute analytical ability with excellent communication skills and a passion for working with clients. They will be confident in topics concerning power markets and the energy transition, and eager to work in a creative, intellectually stimulating, and supportive environment where they will play a driving role in one of Aurora's key strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support leading developers, utilities, and funds across the power sector to deploy capital to the energy transition by integrating Aurora's software into their strategic investment decisions.
  • Deliver specialised onboarding training sessions and energy market workshops to guide customers in using the software to build and interpret their asset specific and market level revenue forecasts.
  • Perform and deliver analyses on software-driven client projects.
  • Exercise judgement and critically assess software outputs to ensure our financial forecasts are defendable.
  • Help clients to leverage insights from Aurora's software during transactions and strategic decision-making.
  • Help answer client questions across a broad range of topics, ensuring they are able to unlock value from the software.
  • Leverage insights from customer usage data in order to perform strategic retention and expansion activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required attributes:

  • At least 1-2 years of professional experience in an analytical and knowledge-driven role.
  • Strong understanding of UK energy market topics, including energy policy.
  • Strong communication skills, presentation skills and confidence in client-facing situations.
  • A high degree of persistence and a hands-on approach to ensuring firm-wide goals are achieved.
  • A track record of success in team environments.
  • Ability to work in the UK. Please indicate any current or future visa sponsorship requirements as part of your application.
  • Professional-level written and spoken English communication skill.

Desirable attributes:

  • Experience in energy consulting or B2B client-facing roles.
  • Power market modelling and/or financial forecasting experience.
  • Transferrable knowledge of other (non-GB) European power markets.
  • Familiarity with presenting in front of senior stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Project Finance, Debt Transactions, Equity Transactions, M&A and Asset Management life cycles.
