Based in Oxford, you will join the specialist Engineering team within Internal Technology as the in-house technical authority for Salesforce, the platform underpinning Aurora's commercial and client-facing processes. You will take end-to-end technical ownership of the platform and its integrations, setting the technical direction and ensuring Salesforce scales cleanly with a rapidly growing global business. Salesforce is a Tier 1 system at Aurora, spanning Sales Cloud, Account Engagement (Pardot), Revenue Cloud / CPQ, and a growing set of integrations into the wider enterprise estate. This role provides the senior technical capability to move the platform from day-to-day administration towards a well-architected, well-governed system.
In this role, you will translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions, making the key architecture, build-versus-configure, and declarative-versus-code decisions. You will be responsible for representing your architectural decisions through review processes and aligning with the overall architectural direction of the Head of Architecture and Engineering. You will work in tandem with the Commercial and Advisory Systems Managers, who own the business partnering relationship and roadmap for their departments' use of the system; you will be the technical counterpart who turns those priorities into sound platform architecture and delivery, challenging assumptions and surfacing risk where needed.
The successful candidate will combine deep, hands-on Salesforce engineering with the architectural judgement to own the platform within a broader enterprise systems landscape. You will mentor more junior administrators, act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, and help raise the overall technical capability of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Ownership: Act as the in-house technical authority for Salesforce, taking end-to-end ownership of solution design across Sales Cloud, Account Engagement, and Revenue Cloud. Own the platform within Aurora's wider enterprise architecture, including system boundaries, data ownership, master data, security, and downstream impacts to finance and ERP platforms.
- Solution Design: Set and govern the technical standards, patterns, and platform roadmap that keep Salesforce scalable and maintainable. Build well-engineered solutions using the right balance of declarative and coded approaches, including Salesforce Flow, bulk-safe Apex mindful of governor limits, Lightning Web Components, and SOQL/SOSL, exercising sound judgement on when to configure versus code.
- Revenue Cloud and Lead-to-Order: Architect Revenue Cloud / CPQ quote-to-order capabilities, covering product setup, pricing, quoting, approvals, orders, assets, renewals, and amendments. Design and govern end-to-end lead-to-order processes across Salesforce and external systems, including the Account Engagement to Sales Cloud lead lifecycle.
- Integration Architecture: Design and deliver REST API integrations connecting Salesforce to external and third-party systems, applying robust integration patterns including API-led integration, event-driven processes, platform events, change data capture, error handling, retry logic, and operational monitoring.
- Data Management: Lead data migration, data management, and data quality activities, including mapping, deduplication, reconciliation, and use of tools such as Data Loader, safeguarding data accuracy and integrity across the platform.
- Business Partnering: Work in tandem with the Commercial and Advisory Systems Managers as the technical counterpart to their business ownership, translating their departmental requirements and roadmaps into practical, technically sound solutions. Provide clear technical options to business and technology stakeholders at all levels, challenging assumptions and identifying risk.
- Change Management: Represent all Salesforce technical change at Change Advisory Board, ensuring changes proposed by internal engineering resources and third-party vendors are appropriate, aligned to strategy, and well governed. Own release management, environment strategy, and deployment governance across Salesforce environments.
- Technical Leadership: Act as the escalation and technical decision point for the Commercial Systems Coordinator and other administrators, mentoring more junior team members and lifting the overall technical capability of the function. Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles, and keep abreast of platform developments.
Platform Scope: You will hold technical ownership for the following elements of the Salesforce estate, ensuring each is appropriately architected, integrated, and supported: Sales Cloud, Account Engagement (Pardot), Revenue Cloud / CPQ, Platform integrations to the wider enterprise estate.

- Proven ability to design and govern end-to-end lead-to-cash architecture across Salesforce and external enterprise systems.
- Strong practical understanding of Apex and the Salesforce execution model, including triggers, asynchronous processing, governor limits, testing and bulk-safe design.
