Role overview
As an Account Executive you are responsible for creating first drafts of simple materials and working with the Account Coordinator (if there is one on your account) to ensure the administrative tasks required for the day-to-day running of the account are completed.
You will actively participate in client calls and meetings and provide updates on activities or tasks you are leading on. You are responsible for managing your own time, and your knowledge of the overall timelines means you understand where your tasks fit into the wider programme and how its delivery can impact deadlines.
As an Account Executive you should have an understanding of the healthcare communications codes of practice and how they impact the work we do. You should also begin to understand the financial processes required to maintain the account and take an active role in growing the business or winning new accounts by participating in brainstorms and supporting the development of proposals and pitch presentations.
You look for creative or new ways of doing things, examining the world beyond Aurora and our industry to identify innovative approaches which can be applied to healthcare communications.
At this level you will have a great deal of support from your account team and the opportunity to try new things; you should be the type of person who looks for solutions to problems and volunteers for challenges outside their comfort zone.
Essential skills and qualifications:
- Preferably a degree in a science-related field (but not essential)
- One years’ experience in account handling, preferably in an agency setting
- Able to plan your own day
- Skilled at juggling multiple tasks across multiple projects
- Proactive and able to pick things up quickly
- Receptive to feedback from the team
- Good at logistics and managing timelines
- Digitally savvy with knowledge of the varied online/social channels and the types of content required for each
Key responsibilities will include:
Account handling
- Project planning and organisation, including developing timelines and contributing to team and client planning meetings
- Developing first drafts of materials, such as client emails, status reports, evaluation reports and partner briefs, using a range of appropriate styles
- Managing events and facilitating the logistics, including attendee RSVPs and travel, catering, and ensuring materials are delivered on time and to a high standard
- Building a relationship with the client and speaking regularly on calls
- Managing an activity or small project from brief through to completion, such as developing the copy for an infographic, managing the design, and incorporating team and client amends until the final document is approved
- Conducting media sell ins, and identifying and securing paid media opportunities
- Using digital and social media to support programmes and developing content for different channels and audiences
- Managing external partners, including giving briefs, providing feedback, and version and quality control
- Knowledge of referencing styles and the ability to accurately reference materials and manage their progress through to client certification (e.g. via Veeva)
Finance
You will be expected to provide logistical and administrative support on account finances. These tasks could include opening and closing job codes, running time reports, raising purchase orders and updating cost trackers.
You are also expected to support the Account Director on account finances when the Account Manager is out of the office.
Sales and Marketing
New business and organic growth are crucial for our success, and everyone on the team has a part to play to ensure the long-term sustainability of the agency. You should play an active role in helping us market the agency and win awards, grow existing accounts and pitch for new ones.
As part of the Aurora team you will:
- Develop content for our social media channels (e.g. blog posts), flexing your style depending on the audience
- Support the agency by participating in brainstorms and offering creative input and ideas
- Assist with desk research to inform proposals and share your findings with the team
The anticipated salary for this position will be £26,000-£31,000. Salary is based on job-related factors such as: years of relevant experience, qualifications and/or certifications. Aurora reserves the right to modify this pay range at any given time.
