Purpose
Auriga is seeking a Safety Assurance Lead to own and coordinate the safety assurance approach for its autonomous vehicle and industrial infrastructure autonomy products.
About the role
This is a senior role focused on ensuring that Auriga’s products are developed, validated and deployed in line with applicable safety standards, regulatory expectations, customer requirements and internal safety processes.
What you’ll do
- Own, define and maintain Auriga’s safety assurance framework for its autonomous vehicle product, customer deployments, certification support and operational readiness.
- Identify, interpret and document applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, customer requirements, certification expectations and assurance requirements.
- Maintain end-to-end traceability from standards, hazards and safety goals through requirements, design decisions, implementation, verification, validation, deployment evidence and assurance artefacts.
- Work closely with Engineering to ensure safety requirements are embedded into system architecture.
- Work closely with site execution and delivery teams to ensure deployment-specific safety evidence is captured, documented and aligned with the approved safety case and operational readiness criteria.
- Lead communication with external certification bodies, independent assessors and assurance organisations such as TÜV SÜD, TÜV Rheinland, DEKRA, BSI or equivalent bodies during certification, assessment and audit activities.
- Provide clear reporting on safety assurance status, evidence maturity, certification readiness, open risks, compliance gaps and deployment readiness to senior leadership and product teams.
Your profile
Essential experience
- 7+ years’ experience in safety assurance, systems safety, functional safety, product safety or systems engineering, including 2+ years supporting autonomous navigation, autonomous vehicles, robotics or related autonomy systems.
- Good understanding and experience with standards such as Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, ISO 26262, ISO 21448 / SOTIF, ISO 21434, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 34501, ISO 34502, ISO 34503.
- Proven experience leading safety assurance activities across multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, testing, cybersecurity, DevOps, delivery, site execution and operations.
- Strong understanding of safety lifecycle processes, including safety requirements management, hazard analysis, risk assessment, verification, validation, release, deployment and change control.
- Experience interpreting safety standards, regulatory guidance, certification expectations and customer safety requirements, and translating them into practical engineering and operational requirements.
- Experience creating, managing and reviewing safety cases, safety plans, compliance matrices, traceability matrices, assurance arguments, evidence packs and certification-support artefacts, with strong documentation skills and a focus on auditable, review-ready outputs.
Desirable experience
- Experience of certification in the autonomous navigation space.
- Experience supporting safety assurance for autonomous systems, drive-by-wire systems, remote operations, safety-related control systems or software-intensive systems.
- Experience working with external certification bodies, independent safety assessors or assurance organisations such as TÜV SÜD, TÜV Rheinland, DEKRA or BSI.
- Experience with requirements and traceability tools such as, DOORS, Jira, Confluence or similar.
