ABOUT THE ROLE
The Nurse Manager is the clinical lead for Draycott’s service, responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of care for clients with clinical needs. The role provides expert oversight of care delivery, ensuring services are person-centred, well planned, and aligned with CQC standards for an Outstanding service.
Reporting to the Registered Manager, the post operates with a high degree of professional autonomy. The role oversees the line management of two Clinical Nurse Liaisons.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Governance & Oversight
Lead clinical decision‑making, ensuring safe practice, safeguarding, and appropriate escalation
Oversee all clinical care, including assessment, care planning, review, and documentation
Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, IPC, medication management, and internal policies
Lead audits, incident investigations, and learning from complaints
Care Planning & Delivery
Undertake and oversee clinical assessments, care plans, and risk management
Support clients with complex or changing needs, ensuring responsive, coordinated care
Ensure care reflects best practice, outcomes, and multidisciplinary input
Client & Team Engagement
Act as the senior clinical contact for clients and families
Maintain regular clinical oversight of nurses and carers to support quality and manage risk
Work collaboratively with care coordination and external professionals
Leadership & Professional Practice
Maintain CPD and NMC revalidation
Provide leadership, supervision, and development support to the nursing team
Promote a learning culture through feedback, supervision, and shared learning
Role model professional standards and ethical practice
Quality Improvement & Risk
Lead audits, reviews, and continuous improvement activity
Monitor Early Warning Systems (EWS) and participate in the on‑call rota
Use data and feedback to improve care quality and maintain regulatory standards
Service Contribution
Support safe onboarding of new clients and contribute to service development
Essential
Registered Nurse (Adult) with active NMC registration
Degree in Nursing (or equivalent) and evidence of ongoing CPD
Significant clinical experience, including complex care
Strong skills in assessment, care planning, and risk management
Knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding, IPC, and medication management
Experience in clinical leadership, supervision, and decision‑making
Excellent communication and ability to work collaboratively
Professional, resilient, and committed to high‑quality, person‑centred care
5+ years of experience in a similar role
Desirable
Experience in community, domiciliary, or complex care
Leadership or mentorship qualification
Experience with audits, inspections, or service development
On‑call or senior clinical support experience
