We are looking for someone who has developed their career within commercial real estate lending, real estate finance, debt asset management, private credit or an institutional investment environment and is ready to step into a role offering significant responsibility, senior stakeholder exposure and genuine influence.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the management of a sophisticated portfolio of commercial real estate loans, combining strong credit and analytical capability with direct borrower, sponsor and institutional stakeholder engagement.
Working closely with the senior relationship lead, you will become a key day-to-day contact for the client and a senior member of the team, a position requiring strong CRE debt expertise, sound commercial judgement, leadership capability and the credibility to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
The role
You will be responsible for the ongoing asset management and a portfolio of complex commercial real estate loans, including:
- Managing the day-to-day performance of assigned CRE loans and maintaining regular dialogue with borrowers, sponsors and institutional stakeholders
- Reviewing and assessing borrower requests, consents, waivers and other loan-related matters
- Analysing property and loan performance, including cash flow, NOI/NCF, DSCR, debt yield, valuations and covenant compliance
- Monitoring business plans, leasing activity, capital expenditure, development and construction progress
- Identifying emerging risks, loan events and performance triggers
- Producing high-quality asset, portfolio and management reporting for senior stakeholders
- Reviewing complex financial information and large volumes of portfolio data
- Supporting decision-making across transitional, development, repositioning and stabilised assets
- Working across senior, mezzanine and other structured CRE debt positions
- Providing guidance and support to colleagues and helping drive high standards across the team
The formal role specification also includes ongoing communication with borrowers and lenders/investors, quarterly asset reporting, weekly portfolio updates, monitoring loan-specific events and triggers, and reviewing construction draws.
What we're looking for
We are particularly interested in individuals who have worked directly for a bank, institutional lender, real estate debt fund, private credit investor or investment manager.
You are likely to have experience in areas such as:
You may currently be operating at Vice President, Assistant Vice President, Associate Director, Senior Asset Manager, Portfolio Manager, Lending Manager or Senior Associate level.
Key experience
- Experience managing loans following origination
- Good understanding of CRE credit and underwriting principles
- Confidence analysing property and borrower financial information
- Experience dealing directly with borrowers, sponsors and senior stakeholders
- Strong Excel, reporting and analytical capability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The judgement and confidence to work autonomously in a demanding institutional environment
- The personality and gravitas to become a trusted day-to-day contact for a major client
- Leadership capability, whether through formal team management, mentoring or coordinating more junior colleagues
Knowledge of major property sectors including office, industrial, retail and multifamily is highly relevant, alongside familiarity with structured CRE lending and metrics including IRR, NPV, DSCR, debt yield and NOI/NCF.
Why consider it?
This is an unusually strong opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond a conventional bank or investment-management role and gain first-hand exposure to a major global investment-bank environment.
You will sit close to the client, understand how decisions are made, work across a sophisticated institutional real estate debt portfolio and become a highly visible member of the relationship.
For someone ambitious, analytical and commercially minded, it offers:
- Exceptional exposure to a leading global investment bank
- Complex and interesting CRE debt work
- Significant client interaction and responsibility
- The opportunity to become the trusted deputy to the senior relationship lead
- A highly credible platform for longer-term progression within institutional real estate debt
Salary: up to Β£115,000 + bonus
