Job Description
Aurex Group have partnered with an international physical metals trading house, in their search for a Senior Dry Bulk Operator to oversee the full scope of dry bulk shipping logistics.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full post-fixture operations for dry bulk shipments, including voyage and time-chartered vessels
- Coordinate closely with shipowners, charterers, port agents, surveyors, and internal teams to ensure efficient cargo execution
- Prepare and issue accurate and timely shipping documentation (BLs, NORs, SOFs, LOIs, etc.)
- Track vessel progress, manage port calls, and ensure compliance with charter party terms and Incoterms
- Perform detailed laytime calculations and ensure timely and accurate submission of supporting documents
- Lead the full demurrage and despatch claim process, including negotiation and settlement with counterparties
- Manage marine cargo insurance placements for relevant shipments, working with brokers and insurers to ensure proper coverage
- Oversee insurance claims handling in the event of cargo loss, damage, or delay
- Liaise with traders, risk, legal, and finance teams to proactively identify and mitigate operational and financial risks
Requirements
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in dry bulk operations, ideally within a commodity trading house, shipowner, or operator
- Strong working knowledge of charter parties (voyage and time), incoterms, and post-fixture processes
- Proven ability to calculate laytime and manage demurrage/despatch claims from start to finish
- Experience in managing marine cargo insurance policies, placements, and claims
- Commercially savvy with the ability to manage operational risk and optimise voyage performance
- Excellent organisational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Comfortable working under pressure and to tight shipping deadlines
