About the Trainee Teacher Programme

Qualifications Required
To be eligible to apply, you’ll need:
- School experience of supporting and teaching secondary-aged children as a HTLA or unqualified teacher.
- A UK bachelor's degree (2:2 or above, although some 3rd class degrees may be considered).
- GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 (C) or above (If you do not have a Mathematics-related degree, you must hold an A level in Mathematics at grade C or above. You will be required to undertake an SKE programme as a condition of your offer).
- Right to work and study in the UK, with 3+ years of residency in the UK/EEA, in order to receive the Apprenticeship Levy funding to pay for your course fees.
Postgraduate Apprenticeship Route
If successful in the post-interview process, the employing school would pay the trainee the first pay point on the unqualified teacher scale. The successful apprentice would be issued an employment contract as a PGTA for the academic year, subject to a successful interview and meeting all the conditions of the offer. GLF’s Trust Apprenticeship Levy Fund would pay the £9,000 training fee for the teacher training programme.
Employing School - Aureus School
All trainees have two placement schools, and GLF Teacher Training ensures your second placement school is carefully matched to ensure reasonable travel and the right fit for your training needs. This would be for 4-6 weeks in term 2.
