Aureos is seeking a Quality Manager to join our project in Swindon. The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and assuring all quality management activities for the delivery of a Main Intake Substation refurbishment within a nuclear-licensed environment. Acting on behalf of the Principal Contractor, the role ensures that construction works comply with nuclear standards, client requirements, NEC contract obligations, and statutory regulations, driving a right-first-time and audit-ready delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Leadership & Assurance
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) in line with nuclear site licence conditions, ISO 9001 and contractor management systems.
- Promote a strong nuclear quality culture, challenging non-compliance and poor standards.
- Act as the focal point for quality matters with the Client, assurance teams, and regulators.
- Construction Quality Control
- Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings and specifications.
- Hold and witness points.
- Provide quality oversight of HV electrical and civil works, including transformers, switchgear, earthing, protection systems, foundations, bunds, ducts, and containment.
- Coordinate inspections, factory acceptance tests (FATs), and site acceptance tests (SATs).
- Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including investigation, root cause analysis, and close-out.
- Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- NEC Contract & CDM Support
- Support the Project Manager in meeting NEC contract requirements, ensuring quality records support programme milestones, completion and handover, compensation events and early warnings (where quality-related).
- Support the Principal Contractor in meeting CDM 2015 duties through controlled quality documentation and assurance.
- Audits & Assurance
- Plan and participate in internal and external audits.
- Support client surveillance, independent assurance, and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure quality systems remain compliant and effective throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Experience
- Proven experience in a Quality Manager / QA Manager role on complex construction or electrical infrastructure projects.
- Experience working within nuclear licensed sites or similarly regulated environments (defence, energy, pharmaceuticals, data centres).
- Strong understanding of HV electrical infrastructure and substation delivery.
- Qualifications
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor (desirable).
- HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Quality, or Construction Management (desirable).
- Strong working knowledge of nuclear quality assurance principles.
- CDM 2015 awareness (desirable).
- High attention to detail and strong governance mindset.
- Confident challenging poor quality and unsafe practices.
- Clear communicator with authority and credibility.
- Methodical, evidence-based, and process driven.
- Security
- Must be eligible for DV or SC clearance (subject to AWE vetting).
