Aureos are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work in a growing team in Penrith. Working within Aureos Highways Business Unit, and forming a part of the Commercial team, the Quantity Surveyor plays an integral part in delivering exceptional commercial results. Core responsibilities encompass project delivery, commercial reporting and maximising profit.

Structure and Governance: Through monthly Performance review meetings and clear delegation of authority.
Business Development and Customer Relationship Management: Growing into new markets and developing relationships and strategies with new and existing customers.
People and Inclusion: With specific training and succession planning through an internal Programme Management office, lean tools, and digital platforms.
With sustainable growth in mind, our Quantity Surveyor is responsible for assisting the commercial team in completing and maintaining well-organised records, contributing to the timely production of applications for payment and accurate project reporting.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will assist the commercial team in providing support to the contract delivery team to ensure profitability, cash management, cost control and accurate reporting of all schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding of project risk.
- Understanding the production of forecasting data.
- Understanding the management of the full sub-contract cycle and input into sub-contract documentation.
- Attend project progress meetings.
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial performance reports.
- Gain experience outside of the commercial function to better understand the role of the business and the quantity surveyor within the business.

- Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met.
- Manage commercial performance against business targets and KPI’s.
- Work with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement.
- Assist with the use of key lean tools to drive efficiencies and reduce waste.
- Encourage, support and assist with the delivery of successful collaborative planning with the contract delivery teams.
- Commitment to their own professional development, and that of others across the Business Unit.
- Other tasks appropriate to the role of Quantity Surveyor, as identified by the Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager.

Targets for the Quantity Surveyor will be set and reviewed on a 6 monthly basis, aligned with the responsibilities and behaviours listed within this job description.
The Quantity Surveyor is expected to:
- Contribute to timely production of accurate internal accounts and internal/external reports/audits.
- Maintain Professional Development Log.
Qualifications and Training:
- Suitable post degree experience working in contracting commercial department preferably within the power industry.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret construction industry conditions of contract, mainly NEC3 and NEC4.
- Proficient in Microsoft packages (Excel).
- Driving license.
