Aureos are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major nuclear decommissioning and demolition project in South East England. The role requires full accountability for safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of complex demolition and deconstruction works within a highly regulated nuclear environment, under an NEC4 contract. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, technical understanding of demolition methodologies, and experience managing risk, programme, and stakeholders in complex infrastructure or nuclear projects.

Primary Duties

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a major nuclear decommissioning/demolition project from planning through execution and close-out.
  • Drive performance across Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ), programme, and commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure full compliance with nuclear safety case requirements, regulatory standards, and site licence conditions.
  • Manage demolition and dismantling activities, including hazardous materials handling and waste streams.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, radiological protection, and commercial functions.
  • Manage subcontractors and specialist demolition contractors, ensuring safe systems of work and high-quality outputs.
  • Oversee planning, programming, and sequencing of complex demolition works.
  • Administer and manage project delivery in line with NEC4 contractual requirements, including early warnings, compensation events, and programme submissions.
  • Maintain robust risk management processes, particularly relating to radiological, structural, and environmental hazards.
  • Drive strong client relationships and act as the primary interface with key stakeholders including regulators.
  • Ensure accurate reporting on progress, cost, risk, and performance.
  • Foster a culture of safety leadership, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Lead decision-making to resolve delivery challenges and mitigate programme delays.
  • Ensure teams are competent, trained, and aligned with project objectives and behaviours.
  • Maintain comprehensive project records including cost tracking, performance metrics, and compliance documentation.

Skills and experience

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Asbestos – awareness of legislation and survey/management requirements.
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in major construction, complex multi-disciplinary or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in demolition/deconstruction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments.
