HGV Driver (Class 1)

Location: Muir of Ord, Highland

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working as required

Travel Requirements: Regular travel throughout the Highlands & Islands, including working away from home when required

We are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Class 1 Driver to join our operations team based in Muir of Ord. The successful candidate will support the delivery of a long-term contract operating throughout the Highlands and Islands, transporting plant, equipment and materials to various project locations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is willing to travel and work away from home when project requirements dictate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport plant, equipment and materials to and from operational sites across the Highlands and Islands.
  • Load, secure and unload plant and machinery in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice.
  • Operate HIAB-equipped vehicles where required.
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles are maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition.
  • Ensure compliance with all road transport legislation, Driver Hours Regulations and company policies.
  • Complete all delivery, transport and vehicle documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Assist operational teams with site logistics and equipment movements.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, suppliers and members of the public.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Previous experience loading, securing and transporting plant and machinery.
  • Proven experience operating a HIAB crane.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within transport and site environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend work.
  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.

Desirable Requirements

The following would be highly advantageous:

  • Previous experience within the Utilities Industry.
  • Valid 360 Excavator Operator Ticket and practical operating experience.
  • Experience transporting utility or civil engineering plant and equipment.
  • Knowledge of working within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environments.
  • Relevant plant or lifting operation certifications.
