Aureos are seeking a Senior Planner to join our established energy team in Scotland. The Senior Planner plays a key role in supporting the Planning & Project Controls function across both pre-construction and delivery phases. This role is responsible for leading schedule development, coordinating with stakeholders, managing planning risks, and ensuring governance compliance. The Senior Planner contributes to successful project outcomes through proactive planning, analysis, and communication.

Primary tasks and duties:

  • Contract Compliance & Claims
    • Have a deep understanding of NEC contracts and ensure that project schedules align with contractual obligations specifically to CL31, CL32 & Clause 60.1.
    • Collaborate with legal and contract management teams to address and resolve any NEC issues relating to disputes and claims.
    • Implement compensation events and change management strategies in line with NEC guidelines.
    • Evaluate lost productivity, defective construction, and delay/disruption damages to quantify their impact on projects.
    • Proficiency in crafting clear and concise high-level expert reports, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Project Planning:
    • Utilise Primavera P6 to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, considering project scope, resource requirements, and timelines.
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for schedule development.
  • Scheduling and Analysis:
    • Conduct schedule analysis, identifying critical paths, dependencies, and potential risks.
    • Collaborate with project teams to optimize schedules, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
    • Where entitlement requires to be demonstrated lead on evidence to support Compensation Events, Extension of Time (EOT).
  • Resource Allocation:
    • Assist in the allocation and tracking of resources to ensure optimal utilisation and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with relevant teams to understand resource constraints and address potential bottlenecks.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate schedule information effectively to project teams, management, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide timely updates on project progress, deviations from the schedule, and proposed corrective actions.
  • Training:
    • Provide training across the business specifically around Programme Management, Claims and disputes.
    • Support the Planning Manager when developing training material.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in claims management and scheduling procedures.
    • Keep informed about the latest industry best practices and integrate any advancements into the continuous improvement of the claims planning process.
  • Aureos Governance:
    • Ensure each programme undergoes a thorough review with project team and client with the aim of obtaining acceptance each month.
    • In cases where acceptance is not granted, ensure there is ample correspondence provided to the client outlining the proposed course of action.
    • Attend PMR Meetings.
    • Every Schedule scores a pass rate before submission to the client.

Secondary tasks and duties:

  • Contribute to the development of planning tools, templates, and reporting formats.
  • Participate in lessons learned and post-project reviews.
  • Support training and mentoring of junior planners.
  • Monitor industry trends and innovations in planning.
  • Provide input into strategic business cases and feasibility studies.
  • Act as a planning liaison for external stakeholders when required.

Qualifications, Training and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Completion of 802A: Primavera P6 Professional Advanced course.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Solid understanding of project planning principles with practical experience using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and analysing project schedules across multiple workstreams.
  • Familiarity with planning governance, baseline management, and change control processes.
  • Proven experience as a Planner using Primavera P6 in project planning within the construction, engineering, or related industry.
  • Good communicator with ability to deliver clear and concise safety briefs.
  • Good organisation and planning skills.
