The predicted salary is between 30000 - 30000 £ per year.
The maintenance person will ensure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard and provide the residents with a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment in which to live.
Job Responsibilities:
- Carry out repairs as required or contact engineers/service agents where applicable.
- Undertake basic visual electrical checks on all equipment, ensuring that all plugs and cables are inspected for damage and that labels are legible and correct.
- Report any faults to the Home Manager and Electrical Contractor.
- Ensure that daily/weekly/monthly fire checks are completed, including the fire alarm system, fire extinguisher, fire doors and sprinkler system, and record findings.
- Perform pre-weekend checks of lights, electrical and heating prior to the weekend or bank holidays.
- Submit monthly meter readings of gas, electricity and water to the Administrator/Manager on specified dates.
- Undertake general redecoration works as instructed by the Home Manager.
- Maintain the grounds, keeping grass cut, shrubs, bushes and hedges pruned and the site generally weed‑free.
- Respect residents’ privacy and communicate with nursing staff if works may affect resident care.
- Under the direction of the Home Manager, participate in the collation of key performance indicator data and evidence.
- Perform any ad‑hoc duties required to meet service delivery for the home.
Required Qualifications:
- Maintenance experience (minor electrical, plumbing, joinery).
- Knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations.
- Previous work in a care environment is an advantage.
- Valid driving licence and own transportation.
- IT literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfort using a PC or laptop.
- Good communication skills.
- Confident team player.
- Willingness to receive training on current Health & Safety/Fire/EHO issues.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to follow and prioritise tasks and responsibilities.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Full‑time contract. 37.5 hours per week.
- Pay: £14.64 per hour.
- Working hours: 8 am – 4 pm or 9 am – 5 pm.
- Ability to work some weekends.
- 28 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro‑rated for part time).
