AURELIUS is a global alternative investor, distinguished and widely recognised for its operational approach. It focuses on private markets, in particular Private Equity and Private Debt. AURELIUS has been growing significantly in recent years, especially expanding its global footprint, and today employs more than 400 professionals in 9 offices spanning Europe and North America.

We’re strengthening our Legal Practice within the AURELIUS Task Force — a close knit team of functional experts who create value across AURELIUS’ private equity portfolio. As a (Senior) Legal Counsel (Corporate-Commercial), you’ll sit at the intersection of law, business, and transformation. This is a portfolio- and operations-focused corporate-commercial role at fund level, not a front-office transactional M&A or fund-structuring position. You’ll work hands on with investment, operations, and management teams to guide portfolio companies through complex commercial, corporate, and restructuring matters — from acquisition to exit. It’s a rare opportunity for an in-house corporate-commercial generalist to join an institutional PE investor at fund level without needing a dedicated PE or fund-structuring background. This is a chance to use your legal expertise where it drives measurable business impact.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide ongoing, day-to-day corporate-commercial and governance support to portfolio companies and internal stakeholders
  • Advise across the full investment lifecycle: post merger, restructuring, litigation, and corporate governance
  • Design and implement legal standards, policies, and transformation models across the portfolio
  • Oversee external counsel, coordinate legal workflows, and support compliance with group frameworks
  • Contribute to practice development, mentoring junior colleagues and shaping internal legal standards

What you’ll bring:

  • Fully qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with 5+ years’ experience in broad corporate-commercial work
  • Background primarily in-house at a corporate or PE-backed portfolio company; experience in private practice at a leading international law firm is also appreciated
  • Experience in private equity, M&A, or supporting portfolio companies is a strong advantage but not essential
  • Practical, business minded approach with the ability to work independently across multiple jurisdictions
  • Broad, versatile legal skillset and willingness to step beyond your core specialism to solve portfolio challenges
  • Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder skills
  • Qualified in England & Wales or another major European jurisdiction (e.g. Germany, Netherlands, Luxembourg); other EU/UK admissions are also welcome

Why join our Legal Practice:

You’ll move beyond traditional advisory work — driving projects from ideation through to realisation. A rare chance to operate at fund level in a corporate-commercial capacity, partnering closely with portfolio businesses rather than focusing solely on transactions or fund structuring. It’s a hands‑on, high‑impact role in a fast‑growing private equity environment with strong career progression and the flexibility to work in any country where AURELIUS operates. Ready to bring your expertise to where it truly shapes outcomes? Apply now and join a team that turns legal insight into lasting value.
