The Hospital Co-ordinator is a pivotal senior clinical role at the heart of AURA Veterinary. As the operational head of the hospital on a day-to-day basis, you will ensure that clinical workflow, resource allocation and inpatient care come together seamlessly across all areas of the hospital. This role is for someone experienced, confident and clinically credible; someone who commands the respect of the full clinical team, from Veterinary Care Assistants through to our specialists, and who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity referral environment. You will be proactive rather than reactive: anticipating challenges before they arise, making decisions with authority, and taking ownership of the daily operational rhythm of the hospital.

The Hospital Co-ordinator owns the day ensuring every patient, every team member and every resource is in the right place at the right time. You will work in close partnership with the Deputy Nursing Manager, Lead VCA and Nursing Manager and serve as a critical link between clinical and non-clinical teams across the hospital.

Three areas of ownership define this role:

  • Clinical Workflow: Oversight of the daily surgical and diagnostic caseload, prioritising cases proactively, anticipating bottlenecks, managing emergencies, and assigning clinical staff appropriately.
  • Resource Management: Staffing allocation across all clinical areas, equipment availability and readiness, liaison with the stock controller and facilities manager.
  • Inpatient Stay: Overseeing patient progress and welfare, supporting timely client communication, ensuring continuity of care across shifts, and championing the patient experience throughout.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • RCVS recognised MRCVS or RVN.
  • Demonstrated experience in a referral or specialist veterinary setting.
  • Experience across multiple clinical areas including theatre, anaesthesia, wards and diagnostics.
  • Strong clinical workflow and patient flow management knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Confident, decisive and proactive with the ability to lead under pressure.
  • Competent in monitoring and managing anaesthesia patients.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Desirable

  • Advanced veterinary nurse qualification (or working towards one).
  • Previous experience in a co-ordination, senior or operational leadership role.
  • Experience with oncological, soft tissue or complex medical patients.
  • Familiarity with hospital resource planning and staffing allocation.
  • Experience communicating with or briefing non-clinical teams.

Reporting to: Nursing Manager and Hospital Director.

At AURA, we believe in the power of diversity and inclusion to drive innovation and excellence. We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the world we live in and provide equal opportunities for all applicants.
