Aura Education is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a Key Stage 1 (KS1) department at a primary school in the L4 area of Liverpool.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
We are looking for someone who understands that every child learns differently and can provide the patience, encouragement and tailored support needed to help pupils thrive.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, helping them access the KS1 curriculum.
- Supporting children with additional needs, which may include Autism (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory needs and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
- Helping pupils develop early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
- Adapting activities and learning resources to meet individual abilities and learning styles.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social interaction.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in classroom activities.
- Supporting pupils with transitions, routines and engagement throughout the school day.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to ensure pupils receive consistent, effective support.
- Contributing to a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Have a genuine passion for working with children with SEND.
- Have previous experience supporting children with additional needs in a school or educational setting.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, resilience and a calm, positive approach.
- Understand the importance of individualised support and inclusive learning.
- Be confident building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging their development.
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Be reliable, proactive and committed to helping every child succeed.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification would be advantageous, although practical experience and the right attitude are equally important.
