About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in North Liverpool. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for the full academic year, based within our Special Educational Needs (SEN) Hub, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with the SEN team, class teachers and external professionals to provide high-quality support that enables pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including communication and interaction, cognition and learning, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Deliver targeted interventions and learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
- Adapt learning resources and teaching strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Assist with personal care where required, maintaining pupils' dignity and independence.
- Promote inclusion, engagement and positive relationships within the SEN Hub and wider school community.
- Observe, monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers and external agencies to support individual learning plans.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
- Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential.
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs within a primary school setting.
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
Desirable
- Experience working within an SEN Hub or specialist provision.
- Knowledge of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
- Experience delivering intervention programmes and supporting individual education plans.
