Job Description
- Develop, specify and maintain optimal packaging solutions across the site, balancing localisation, cost, product protection, storage density, handling efficiency and environmental impact, as well as leading packaging trials, approvals, standards and continuous improvement activities.
- Lead advanced supply chain management deliverables for new product launch projects within the UK business, ensuring packaging, material flow, logistics concepts, master data, bill of materials creation, master data governance creation and materials requirement planning set-ups are in place before launch.
- Analyse and optimise existing supply chain management material flows from goods receiving, stores, line feed, internal transport, sequencing and warehouse management through to dispatch whilst identifying constraints and implement practical flow improvements.
- Support the logistics cost data capture, analysis and presentation to identify cost drivers, develop improvement opportunities and prepare decision-ready reporting.
- Support manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, quality, EHS and customer logistics teams with packaging, flow and supply chain management inputs for projects, customer changes, subcontract activity and operational problem solving.
- Document packaging and material-flow standards, maintain work instructions where required and support training for relevant teams.
Promote continuous improvement, compliance awareness and consistent ways of working.
- Investigate logistics, packaging and material-flow issues using structured problem solving and data analysis in order to drive corrective actions to reduce disruption, improve service, reduce waste and improve standards.
- Control packaging governance and ensure environmental packaging reporting obligations are adhered to, including the PPWR, waste pack/packaging waste reporting and other relevant UK/EU packaging requirements.
Maintain accurate packaging data, evidence and audit readiness.
- Create, validate and maintain master data with the Company's SAP system, and ensure data quality supports planning, procurement and operational execution.
Qualifications
- Technical/business qualification in supply chain, logistics, packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Lean/Six Sigma, project management or packaging compliance training desirable.
- Experience in production planning, material control or materials management within an automotive or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience supporting new product launch/introduction projects, packaging implementation, BOM/master-data creation, material requirements planning set-up, logistics flow design and end-to-end supply chain management process improvement.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional project teams, suppliers, subcontractors and operational stakeholders is desirable.
