We are seeking an experienced Insurance Manager to lead the development and implementation of the Aukera group’s insurance strategy across a European portfolio of power generation and BESS projects. This first-of-its-kind role will be responsible for designing and managing insurance programmes from development through operations, overseeing claims, shaping insurance policy standards, and ensuring alignment with financing and contractual obligations. The successful candidate will combine strategic insight with hands-on technical capability, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Insurance Strategy & Corporate Oversight
- Set and implement the Group insurance strategy, ensuring compliance, risk register reporting, and development of supporting systems and policies.
- Lead risk management activities where required.
- Manage corporate insurance policies related to people and premises.
- Insurance Programme Management
- Design, implement, and manage project finance-compatible insurance programmes for renewable and BESS projects across Europe, including CAR/EAR, Marine Cargo, DSU/ALOP, Property, Liability, and Business Interruption.
- Ensure adequate coverage through coordination with EPC/ICP/O&M contractors, lenders, suppliers, and brokers.
- Review insurance policies, lender endorsements, and contractual documentation to ensure compliance with financing agreements.
- Draft and maintain standard insurance clauses for inclusion in EPC, ICP, O&M, supply agreements and PPAs.
- Lead insurance due diligence processes for projects and assess policy suitability.
- Identify coverage gaps and provide mitigation recommendations.
- Contractual & Stakeholder Management
- Review and negotiate insurance-related obligations within EPC and supply contracts.
- Maintain strong working relationships with brokers, underwriters, reinsurers, and advisors.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Legal, Finance, Project Management and Revenue teams to align risk mapping and insurance requirements across contracts.
- Prepare insurance budgets, forecasts and Board-level reporting.
- Claims Management
- Oversee all claims from notification to final settlement, ensuring timely processing and maximising recoveries.
- Work with project teams, insurers and adjusters to resolve disputes and protect commercial interests.
- Analyse claims data to inform future insurance placements and risk mitigation strategies.
- Risk Assessment & Reporting
- Conduct risk assessments for new and existing projects, advising senior management on risk exposure and insurance implications.
- Contribute to project risk reviews and integrate insurance considerations into overall risk management.
- Present regular updates on insurance status, claims and exposure.
- Monitor emerging insurance market trends including cyber risk and extreme weather impacts.
- Structure and manage operational insurance programmes (property damage, business interruption, liability, environmental, cyber, etc.) and renewals across the portfolio.
- Improve remarketing and optimisation of operational insurance policies.
- Ensure data completeness and consistency at asset and SPV levels to support performance monitoring and premium optimisation.
- Oversee operational claims handling and alignment of contractor and asset-level insurance requirements.
- Proven experience establishing and managing full insurance structures for large-scale power, energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience from brokers, insurers, developers or IPPs welcomed.
- Strong understanding of project finance structures and associated documentation.
- Deep knowledge of corporate and project-specific insurance lines: CAR/EAR, DSU/ALOP, Marine, Liability, Political Risk, etc.
- Ability to analyse complex contractual documents and translate insurance terminology into project agreements.
- Understanding of risk mitigation standards for power generation.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building capabilities.
- Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple complex projects under pressure.
- Comfortable working autonomously within a multidisciplinary European team.
- Professional insurance qualifications (CII, CPCU, ARM) highly desirable.
