Hours: This post involves regular morning hours Monday-Friday. 15 hours per week (3 hours per day) are guaranteed. Additional hours may be offered by mutual arrangement. Permanent contract.
Job Purpose: The cleaner/caretaker is primarily responsible for the efficient daily cleaning and maintenance of Augustine United Church, taking care of the fabric of the building and ensuring compliance with all relevant hygiene regulations. The cleaner/caretaker is part of a team comprising the Minister, Treasurer, Centre Manager, Church Assistant and other caretaking staff, under the direct supervision of the Centre Manager.
All staff at Augustine United Church work together to provide a high level of customer service to users of our building, maintaining our reputation as a friendly and high-quality venue for hire in the centre of the city. Training in health & safety, first aid and other appropriate qualifications will be considered for the right candidate.
Job Duties:
- Cleaning & Hygiene: Thorough cleaning of the whole building, following a cleaning schedule of daily, weekly, monthly and 6 monthly tasks – including deep cleaning of areas as necessary. Taking charge of cleaning consumables and supplies and alerting the Centre Manager when stocks need replenishing. Ensuring all rubbish and recycling is collected and disposed of safely and properly. Providing guidance to all staff on correct use of cleaning products/equipment and hygiene regulations.
- Maintenance: Undertaking minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including some working at height.
- Room Setups: Setting up and cleaning of halls and meeting rooms prior to use, including the movement of furniture and preparation of heating and lighting.
- Working with People: Occasionally welcoming hirers and assisting them with their events, including setting up audio-visual equipment as required. Providing a high level of customer service when interacting with building users to ensure their events run smoothly. Giving access and assistance to contractors and officials requiring access to the building.
