About Us
August is a full-service real estate development and lifestyle company based in London, specialising in luxury holiday home collections across Europe. We carefully curate and manage beautifully designed homes in prime destinations, combining real estate, hospitality, and design to offer our members a seamless second‐home experience. As part of our continued growth, we are working closely with our sister company, RIOLONDON—an internationally acclaimed interior architecture and design studio founded in 2014. Both businesses sit under the August Group and operate collaboratively, sharing expertise and working closely across projects, while maintaining their distinct specialisms. RIOLONDON delivers end‐to‐end design, procurement, and installation services for industry‐leading clients globally. Alongside its work with August, the studio also partners on a range of external projects, spanning large‐scale operational real‐estate schemes and high‐profile luxury developments.
We are currently hiring a Senior Interior Designer who will be employed by RIOLONDON, while working closely across both RIOLONDON and August projects and teams.
Role Overview
We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Interior Designer to join our dynamic team on a 9 month maternity cover. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of high‐end residential projects for our sister company, August in the South of France, French Alps, Paris and Cannes, as well as a range of commercial and hospitality schemes. You will oversee the full project lifecycle — concept development, FFE selection, full drawing packs, specifications on site coordination, and installation for a number of renovation and design projects. You will also take responsibility for managing a small design team on select high‐value projects to ensure exceptional creative and operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create functional and aesthetically beautiful August holiday homes from concept to installation.
- Lead and deliver design presentations, pitches, workshops, and internal creative meetings.
- Produce innovative, inspirational, and commercially viable designs — on time, on budget, and aligned with client expectations and internal targets.
- Create complete design packages, from concept through to construction documentation (technical drawings and documentation in AutoCAD: floor plans, elevations, electrical layouts, etc.).
- Research, specify, and source materials, finishes, and equipment — with a focus on durability, lead times, and budget.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships across European and regional markets.
- Develop styling and antique sourcing strategies within local markets to give homes a regional soul.
Project Coordination And Operational Project Management
- Coordinate onsite design execution in collaboration with regional project managers.
- Manage the installation process by working with a local logistics team, handyman and electricians to unpack and install the full FFE package.
- Ensure every home meets brand standards while establishing productive feedback loops to capture key learnings and drive continual process improvement.
- Source and style local pieces as part of the final design execution.
- Support the Hospitality team with maintenance and minor works once the home goes live.
Brand & Commercial Strategy
- Evolving the "August" look and ensuring every home meets the brand experience.
- Balancing the need for "one‐of‐a‐kind" designs with the commercial requirement to standardise certain elements for growth.
Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in architecture, interior design or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in interior design.
- Fluent in French at a professional level, Spanish or Italian would be an advantage.
- Perfect command of spoken and written English.
- UK driver's licence.
- Proven ability to lead and deliver interior design projects from concept to completion.
- Experience in multiple phases of development from design/planning to construction project management/administration including managing project budgets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design principles and strong architectural detailing.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and good knowledge of Google Workspace.
- On site experience working with contractors and trades + great understanding of build standards.
- Excellent spatial, technical and operational understanding and being able to translate this into reality.
- Passionate about delivering a seamless experience in the homes through design, brand image, furniture and interior styling.
- Ability to independently plan and complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Skilled in managing and developing both in-house and freelance design teams.
Desirable Skills
- Strong organisational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects at pace.
- Highly creative with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proactive, positive, and adaptable with an owner's mindset.
- Comfortable working with and representing the company to senior leadership, stakeholders, and VIP clients.
- Stakeholder management capabilities.
- Process driven - ability to deliver immediate results, whilst looking to develop systems for future growth.
- Excellent problem solving and resourcefulness skills.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
- Multi‐tasking skills.
- A flexible and can‐do attitude.
