The predicted salary is between 17600 - 18400 £ per year.
Assist in the day to day running of the site or activity, to ensure that processes are carried out safely and efficiently. They will also contribute to the protection of the environment, efficient use of resources and enhancing quality in compliance with relevant regulation; they will contribute to delivering "best in sector" operational performance in the organisation.
The successful candidate will learn to operate various pieces of mobile plant, including AGM process plant, Wheeled loading shovel, Dump truck, 360 Excavator and various rated forklifts, as well as playing a key role in the acceptance of Low Level Radioactive waste and learning the fundamentals of Landfill Management.
The role will involve working outside in all types of weather and will require elements of physical work, including daily walking and heavy lifting. The candidate must be happy to work with all waste streams and must understand their role is predominantly outside either working in mobile plant or on the active Soil Treatment Pad or Landfill.
Key Responsibilities- Proactively support and embed a generative safety culture.
- Accurately weigh and record all incoming and outgoing vehicles using the weighbridge system.
- Ensure all documentation is completed correctly and efficiently.
- Communicate with drivers and site staff to coordinate vehicle movement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for compliance and audit purposes.
- Perform regular checks and basic maintenance on the weighbridge equipment including removal of mud and debris.
- Ensure that the daily checks are complete on the relevant piece of equipment.
- Ensure that the relevant amount of daily cover is placed on each relevant area.
- Perform a site walk over with site manager/supervisor detailing environmental controls.
- Acceptance and administration associated with the acceptance of Low Level Radioactive Waste streams.
- Understand both the Planning and Permitting associated with the site and play a key role in maintaining standards.
- Understand Landfill cell construction.
- Aid in the management of all aspects of the Landfill.
- Ensure that the efficient turnaround of visiting vehicles is adhered to.
- Undertake specific tasks as per business requirements.
- Maintain continuous professional development.
- Any other reasonable duties as and when required.
- Driving License
- English and maths at GCSE grade C (4) or above, or equivalent qualification are desirable.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Establish effective relationships with clients and fellow team members.
- Work methodically and accurately.
- Work well on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively.
