We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded Site Manager to lead our Industrial Services operation in Kirkby.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong operational leader to take ownership of an established business, build on its existing strengths and drive safe, sustainable and profitable growth. You’ll play a key role in delivering operational excellence, developing our people, strengthening customer relationships and ensuring the business continues to perform to the highest standards.

Reporting to the Director of Industrial Services, you’ll take responsibility for the site’s day-to-day performance, people, customers, assets, health and safety, and overall financial results.

The Role

As Site Manager, you’ll provide clear leadership across the Kirkby operation, working closely with the Senior Operations Manager, Transport Manager and Operations Support Administrator, alongside colleagues in Commercial, Finance, HSEQ and HR.

Your focus will be on maintaining safe and reliable service delivery, improving operational performance, developing your management team and identifying opportunities for profitable growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Operational leadership: Ensure work is safely planned, properly resourced and delivered to customer requirements, agreed timescales and expected margins.
  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality: Champion a positive safety culture, lead inspections and investigations, ensure compliance with relevant requirements and drive continuous improvement.
  • Financial performance: Take ownership of site P&L, revenue, gross margin and EBITDA, managing budgets, forecasts, costs and financial performance against targets.
  • Customer relationships: Build strong, lasting customer partnerships, resolve service issues and ensure consistently high standards of service delivery.
  • Commercial growth: Work with the Commercial team to develop the sales pipeline, support pricing and renewals, and ensure new business can be delivered safely and profitably.
  • People leadership: Coach and develop your management team, establish clear responsibilities and support recruitment, training, performance management and succession planning.
  • Fleet and assets: Oversee the availability, maintenance, utilisation and replacement planning of fleet, plant and equipment.
  • Performance improvement: Monitor operational and HSEQ KPIs, identify improvement opportunities and ensure agreed actions are delivered.
  • Business planning and reporting: Lead budget and forecast reviews, monitor financial and operational risks, and contribute to business and strategy reviews.

You’ll also maintain a visible presence across customer sites, support the resolution of operational challenges and ensure the Kirkby operation continues to meet its legal, company and customer obligations.

About You

You’re an accountable, hands-on leader who combines strong operational judgement with commercial awareness and the ability to bring people with you.

You’ll be confident making decisions, managing competing priorities and maintaining high standards in a demanding operational environment. You’ll also know how to develop a capable team, build customer confidence and turn business objectives into measurable results.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Experience leading teams within industrial cleaning, industrial services or waste management, with responsibility for operational performance and P&L.
  • Strong knowledge of safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements and resource planning.
  • Experience managing customer relationships, budgets, commercial commitments and performance improvement.
  • An understanding of job costing, profit margins, forecasting and asset utilisation.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety and environmental compliance, with the ability to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to coach, delegate and hold others accountable.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to interpret financial and operational data to support sound decision-making.

Essential qualifications

  • A full UK Category B driving licence.
  • A Level 5 management qualification or above, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent or higher qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate.

A Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is desirable.

Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards would also be beneficial. Candidates who do not yet hold the relevant higher-level environmental or quality knowledge may be able to develop this following appointment.
