Be Part of the Story

On Commerce is constantly evolving.

Everyone here plays a hands‑on role in shaping what comes next, building brands that make an impact across global markets.

There's no red tape or rigid corporate structure; just smart people taking ownership and figuring things out as we build something big together.

The pace is fast, priorities shift, things aren't always perfectly set up, and you'll often need to get stuck in and solve problems.

But if you thrive in that kind of environment, you'll have real influence, real ownership, and the chance to grow with a rapidly scaling business.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a senior, highly analytical and genuinely hands‑on performance marketing specialist to come into the business and drive a six‑month marketing transformation.

This is not a Head of Marketing or strategic leadership role.

We need an experienced operator who can get into the data, identify opportunities and wastage, and turn insight into action quickly.

The core problem to solve

There are significant opportunities across both existing and new acquisition channels, but we need much deeper analysis and optimisation.

The contractor will systematically identify

  • Where marketing spend is being wasted.
  • Where profitable growth is being missed.
  • Which products, audiences, segments and cohorts perform.
  • Which channels should be scaled, reduced or changed.
  • How acquisition translates into contribution and profitability, not just traffic or GMV.

Ultimately

How do we pull traffic from every commercially viable source at an affordable cost and continually move investment towards the activity generating profitable growth?

  • Immediate areas of focus
  • 1. Meta: Facebook & Instagram

Meta represents a significant opportunity.

  • We need someone to take ownership of the analytical and optimisation side, including:
  • Product and audience segmentation.
  • CPCs and conversion.
  • Cohort performance.
  • Measurement.
  • Testing.
  • Identifying winning and losing segments.
  • Continually reallocating spend towards what works.

With such a large catalogue, selecting which products should actually go into Meta and how those decisions are tested will be a key challenge.

  • 2. Google Shopping
  • Go significantly deeper into the performance of Google Shopping, particularly:
  • Product‑level profitability.
  • Sources of wasted spend.
  • Audience/customer segmentation.
  • Cohort analysis.
  • CPC efficiency.
  • Merchant Centre and feed issues.
  • Missing/suppressed products.
  • Conversion.
  • Contribution and margin.

A major objective is identifying product cohorts where spend is inefficient and stopping or restructuring that activity.

  • 3. Affiliates
  • Analyse existing performance and identify new affiliate opportunities across:
  • CJ.
  • impact. com.
  • Rakuten.
  • Feed quality and frequency.
  • Conversion.
  • Contribution/profitability.
  • New partners.
  • UK and European expansion.

Europe is considered particularly under‑optimised and should form part of the opportunity assessment.

4. Segmentation, cohorts & propensity

This sits at the heart of the role.

We need someone capable of analysing very large product sets and customer data to establish what should be marketed, to whom, through which channel and at what cost.

They may also work with the Data Science team around propensity solutions and additional pricing data, helping determine whether products are commercially viable to promote based on their position versus the market.

Build better visibility around marketing performance so that problems are identified quickly.

For example

  • Unexpected traffic/channel changes.
  • Rapidly increasing costs.
  • Poor‑performing activity.
  • New marketing activity that isn't generating incremental value.

The objective is to identify issues earlier rather than discovering wasted budget retrospectively.

5. Reporting, monitoring & alerting

Build better visibility around marketing performance so that problems are identified quickly.

For example

  • Unexpected traffic/channel changes.
  • Rapidly increasing costs.
  • Poor‑performing activity.
  • Issues affecting channel performance.
  • New marketing activity that isn't generating incremental value.

The objective is to identify issues earlier rather than discovering wasted budget retrospectively.

6. Retail media & new growth channels

Assess how retail media can connect into broader acquisition activity and identify other commercially viable traffic sources.

There is also interest in emerging channels such as Chat GPT advertising, subject to testing and measurement of incremental value.

Requirements

We're looking for a senior, highly analytical and genuinely hands‑on performance marketing specialist to come into the business and drive a six‑month marketing transformation.

You'll be

  • Extremely data‑led and commercially minded.
  • Strong across performance and growth marketing.
  • Comfortable working with very large product/SKU volumes.
  • Highly analytical across products, audiences, segments and cohorts.
  • Able to work independently and at pace.
  • Genuinely AI‑first in the way they operate.
  • Focused on contribution and profitability, not vanity marketing metrics.

Essential Experience

  • Senior‑level, hands‑on performance/growth marketing experience.
  • Strong e‑commerce background.
  • Experience working with large product catalogues / high SKU volumes.
  • Advanced, practical use of AI tools such as Claude for analysis, optimisation and productivity. Be able to demonstrate having built or used AI agents in their work.
  • Deep Google Shopping experience.
  • Strong Meta / Facebook / Instagram paid acquisition experience.
  • Strong analytical and data‑led approach.
  • Experience analysing product‑level profitability and marketing wastage.
  • Strong understanding of CPC, conversion, margin, contribution and profitability.
  • Experience with customer/product segmentation and cohort analysis.
  • Able to identify which products, audiences and channels should be scaled, reduced or stopped.
  • Strong commercial mindset, focused on profitable growth rather than traffic or vanity metrics.
  • Comfortable getting into the detail and being an individual contributor, rather than relying on a team to execute.
  • Able to work independently, make decisions and move quickly.
  • Strongly desirable
  • Affiliate marketing experience.
  • Experience with CJ, impact. com and/or Rakuten.
  • Google Merchant Centre and product feed optimisation experience.
  • European e‑commerce/performance marketing experience.
  • Retail media experience.
  • Experience working with Data Science teams or propensity modelling.
  • Understanding of product pricing and product economics.
  • Experience improving marketing reporting, monitoring and alerting.
  • Previous consultancy/contract experience where they've entered a business and quickly identified growth opportunities.

Benefits

The role is remote within the UK. We have offices in Manchester and Bournemouth, so the ability to attend occasional in‑person meetings would be a bonus, but is not essential.

Applicants must be based in the UK and have the full right to work in the UK.

Salary / Daily Rate: Please let us know your salary expectations or preferred daily rate, depending on your preferred working arrangement, when applying.
