The Role

Whether you’re creating a traditional Sunday lunch, presenting our popular afternoon tea or creating a menu for one of our themed nights, as our Sous Chef you’ll deliver food that keeps our customers coming back for more. With a newly created menu for each season, the menu is modern yet full of classical English charm. The elegant décor and relaxed atmosphere make the perfect setting for a unique and special dining experience. As the Sous Chef you’ll work closely with our Head Chef to produce consistently outstanding food during service, you’ll also assist with everything from stock rotation and the implementation of new menus to ensuring HACCP guidelines are being followed. Whether you’re mentoring and developing junior members of the team or stock ordering in the absence of the Head Chef you will be a vital member of this small, talented team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in producing consistently outstanding food during service.
  • Support stock rotation and implementation of new menus.
  • Ensure HACCP guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Manage stock ordering in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Demonstrate a wide range of cooking techniques and skills for the team to learn from.
  • Work within a small, dedicated team to deliver exceptional dishes for customers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2 or more years’ experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role with a background in fresh food cooking.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and deliver high standards of service with a genuine and approachable manner.
  • Organised with the ability to plan, communicate, and lead the team in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of cooking techniques and practical experience in all kitchen areas.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of special dietary requirements.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal; able to work unsupervised and in a multi-discipline team.
