# Maintenance PersonBira Care HomesAshton ParkPart time · 22.5£13.45 per hour## About the role## About the roleYou'll carry out general maintenance, repairs and health and safety checks to keep the care home safe, functional and well-presented for residents, staff and visitors.## What you'll do* Carry out repairs and respond to maintenance requests from staff and residents, respecting residents' privacy and routines while you work.* Complete regular checks including fire safety, water temperature, emergency lighting and equipment safety.* Support health and safety audits and statutory checks in partnership with external contractors, ensuring compliance with CIW/CQC, RISCA and HSE regulations.* Work closely with the Home Manager and Group Estates Manager to prioritise tasks.* Keep accurate records of maintenance activity and report issues promptly.* Maintain cleanliness and safety in maintenance and storage areas, using tools and chemicals safely and storing equipment securely.* Keep external areas such as gardens, driveways and pathways safe and tidy.* Attend training including health and safety, fire safety and COSHH.## What you'll need* Experience in a maintenance or repair role* Basic skills in plumbing, electrics, joinery or general DIY* Understanding of health and safety and safe working practices* Reliable, proactive and well-organised* Enhanced DBS check and the right to work in the UK### Desirable* Experience working in a care home or similar setting* A relevant trade or facilities qualification* Knowledge of regulatory requirements for care environments## Why Bira* Make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we support, every day.* Champion dignity, compassion and choice in every interaction.* Join a culture where care is not just delivered — it's felt.## Apply for this roleTell us about yourself and attach your CV.
