Audit & Risk Recruitment are delighted to be working with a well-established insurance company seeking a Legal Counsel to join its London-based team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with experience in insurance or financial services to take on a broad, business-facing in-house role.
Reporting to and supporting the General Counsel, you will help deliver a full legal service to the business, advising on a wide range of ongoing and potential legal matters. The legal function sits within the wider Governance team, which consists of six professionals, including two within Legal.
You will act as a trusted advisor to the business, providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting the General Counsel in providing a comprehensive legal function to the firm
- Providing day-to-day legal support and advice to stakeholders across the business
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of legal agreements, including technology contracts
- Advising on regulatory requirements, including DORA, and ensuring contractual compliance
- Supporting matters relating to GDPR, property law and other relevant legal areas
- Identifying and managing legal risk in line with the company’s governance framework
- Qualified UK solicitor with 3+ years’ PQE
- Experience gained within the insurance or financial services sector
- Strong background in commercial contracts, ideally including technology agreements
- Experience or working knowledge of GDPR, DORA, property law, and regulatory compliance
- Confident working closely with senior stakeholders and providing clear, practical advice
- Organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple matters simultaneously
