We are a small, tight-knit team with everything we need to ship great products - product, design, user research, engineering, ops, and a shared sense of ownership. The structure is flat and the culture is trusting. You will have a real say in what gets built and how, and the people around you will push you to do your best work. As befits a global music company, we have a busy and exciting product roadmap of problems that our artists and editors need us to solve, which will give you the opportunity to work in different areas of the product and across different technologies - everything we build ultimately serves those who use our music.

Responsibilities

  • Help customers find the right music for their productions through faceted search, AI-powered search, briefs, music discovery content, and more.
  • Provide the best possible experience for customers to get our music into their edit, making it seamless to try tracks alongside real video projects.
  • Demystify music licensing by making a complex and often intimidating area clear, simple, and confidence-inspiring for our customers.

Key Technologies

Knowing some of these is a great advantage, but we are happy for you to learn them on the job. Typically, successful applicants cover around 60% of these, so if you have other tools, that’s great too. We’d love to know how you’ve been using AI in your dev work—we use Cursor but we are keen to learn from you if you’ve used other tools.

Languages: TypeScript/JavaScript

About the Role

We are looking for an emotionally intelligent developer who loves to build products that are critical to our customers' work. We make the music that soundtrack their stories, and we want a developer who understands that mission and wants to support it through excellent software development. You should be an engineer who loves your craft and its potential, thinking carefully about architecture, performance, and the systems beneath the surface, not just the code in front of you. You are fluent in JavaScript and comfortable across the full front-end stack, eager to delve into tooling, infrastructure, and the decisions that shape how a product is built. You are curious, collaborative, enjoy pair programming, and drive your code by tests. You get genuine satisfaction from teaching and learning with others.

How to prepare for a job interview at Audio Network

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Audio Network uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
