Our Team Your Mission

While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.

  • Creating HiL models (MATLAB/Simulink) based on component level of the Formula 1 power unit (hybrid system) and integrating it in a full digital-twin vehicle model for the purpose of real-time lap simulation.
  • Responsible for the hardware integration of HIL components dedicated to the power electronics domain of the F1 Power Unit.
  • Development of real-time models (MATLAB/Simulink) related to power electronic components (HV battery, e-motor, inverter).
  • Developing interface models (MATLAB/Simulink) to link control units with real-time systems (CAN, I/O).
  • Embedded software testing and validation of Battery Management System (BMS) and inverter ECUs on HiL systems.
  • Data analysis to validate the functionality and correlation level of digital-twin PU models.
  • Test automation development.
  • Creating simple and complex measuring set-ups to validate the HiL configuration.
  • Collaborate with the Software Controls Team in HiL daily operations.
  • Provide HiL support during race events in Audi F1 Mission Control.

Your Profile

  • Successfully completed studies in the field of electrical / electrotechnical / power electronics engineering, mechatronics or a comparable course of study.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink with a focus on scripting and modelling real-time targets.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop real-time systems (ideally Speedgoat).
  • Experience with modern vehicle control units, their connection and signal processing (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, analogue and digital signal generation and processing).
  • Previous experience with Battery Management System (BMS) ECUs and/or electric e-motor inverters.
  • Knowledge about modern hybrid powertrains and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of application tools such as the Motion Applied toolchain (e.g. System Monitor, ATLAS) and ETAS INCA.
  • Experience with using agile work methods (scrum) and Git workflows.
  • High level of proactivity in problem-solving.
  • Critical thinking in proposing and evaluating new development ideas.
  • A targeted, independent and structured approach to work.
  • Strong implementation skills and a high level of motivation and personal initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good command of English (German is recommended, not strictly required).
