We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Occupational Health Nurse to join our team and deliver high-quality medical assessments, surveillance, and wellbeing support across RSS Infrastructure. This role plays a key part in ensuring our workforce is safe, healthy, and fit for operational demands. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across HSQE, HR, and operational teams to deliver a professional, confidential, and safety-focused service.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver pre-employment medicals and periodic health surveillance in line with Network Rail and HSE standards.
- Complete drug and alcohol testing, ensuring strict adherence to chain-of-custody procedures.
- Support case management, including sickness absence advice and return-to-work guidance.
- Promote employee wellbeing through education, counselling, and participation in health initiatives.
- Identify and assess workplace health risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate, secure medical documentation and ensure timely uploads to Sentinel.
What you need:
Essential:
- Registered on part 1 of the NMC register.
- Occupational health diploma or registration on part 2 of the NMC register (or a registered midwife).
- Audiometry certificate and HAVS qualification from a recognised Faculty of Occupational Medicine course.
- DBS certificate (or ability to obtain one).
- Experience delivering health surveillance independently (audiometry, skin surveillance, spirometry, HAVS).
- Strong communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work professionally with stakeholders across HSQE, HR, and operational teams.
- Excellent attention to detail and IT proficiency, including MS Office.
Desirable:
- Prior experience with audits or mentoring.
- Familiarity with pre-employment questionnaires and drug and alcohol testing.
- Knowledge of Network Rail requirements and sector-specific standards.
- Experience providing support with wellbeing initiatives and health promotion activities.
