Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee signalling testing activities during Points Grinding works in line with Network Rail standards.
  • Carry out SMTH testing after points grinding activities.
  • Work collaboratively alongside Welders and track delivery teams to ensure safe and compliant integration of signalling assets.
  • Perform fault‑finding, diagnostics, and problem resolution on signalling equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety requirements and investigate system failures.
  • Mentor and support members of the signalling team.
  • Accurately report and escalate issues arising during installations and renewals.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as an SMTH Tester on signalling renewals.
  • SMTH (a), (b), (c)/Basic Electrical Safety (BS1 & BS2) HW and Clamp Box competence – essential.
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel and work away.
  • Availability for mid‑week and weekend working, including nights where required.
