Job Description

  • Develop high quality, well performing, modular, configurable, commercial software products for the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Take shared ownership of software development methodology and practices.
  • Work with a team to deliver software functionality.
  • Ensure software deliverables align with the technical architecture, development standards and quality practices.
  • Assist in building and executing integrated unit tests for all code modules.
  • Develop well documented, intent-revealing code.
  • Participate in peer review activities.
  • Create a learning environment through collaboration, shared knowledge, and leadership.
  • Mentor peers and less experienced software developers regarding design, programming approaches, application knowledge and technical product knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Experience with product driven development (as opposed to developing in-house systems).
  • A minimum of a BSc in Computer Science, preferably an MSc in Computer Science or an equivalent degree (e.g. Physics or Maths).
  • Strong C# .Net experience developing complex, object-oriented, business-focused, multi-tier WinForms and Web applications.
  • Experience in multi-threading or parallel computing.
  • Experience with .Net 4.5.
  • Strong experience with WCF and WebAPI for middle-tier communication.
  • Strong experience with either WPF or Web UI development.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server database development ideally including T-SQL, object design, SQLXML and profiling.
  • A strong commitment to staying up to date on the latest technologies, including active participation in user forums and blogs.
  • A strong desire to analyse business problems and provide software solutions.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral English.

  • Job location: Can either be in London or Aberdeen. It can be up for discussion.
