Facilities Management at Auburn University is excited to begin the search for a TES Solid Waste Technician! Assists in maintaining campus waste and recycling sites; collects and transports recyclable materials from inside and outside university buildings to enable the department to complete work efficiently.
Temporary Employment Services ( TES ), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
- Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
- Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
- Assistance with special projects
- Seasonal work

Essential Functions
- Assists with the solid waste and recycling programs on campus by servicing waste and recycling containers inside and outside university buildings.
- Operates vehicles and equipment to remove waste and collect recycling from university grounds. Removes and replaces waste and recycling containers when necessary.
- Performs custodial-type tasks and handles cleaning, solid waste/recycling issues.
- Keeps areas around dumpsters and waste and recycling sites clean and in neat order.
- Works with custodians, groundskeepers, movers, and others who typically handle solid waste materials.
