The College of Architecture, Design and Construction ( CADC ) seeks applicants for Specialist, Contracts and Grants. This position will provide support with the College of Architecture, Design and Construction for extramural projects including proposal development assistance, review and approval, award review, accounting, and contract and grant management.

About the CADC : The CADC is comprised of three schools: School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, the McWhorter School of Building Science; and the School of Industrial Graphic Design. These academic units offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs that are consistently recognized nationally and internationally for their academic excellence and innovations in the fields of design, construction, and related education. The CADC is also home to internationally renowned Rural Studio, Urban Studio, Futures Studio, and the Center for Construction Innovation and Collaboration. Temporary Employment Services ( TES ), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work

Essential Functions

  • Assists with the acquisition, management, and reporting for sponsor funded equipment and materials while maintaining records and titles.
  • Coordinates the execution of contract and grants terms and conditions.
  • Assists in the administrative management of awards by approving and coordinating change orders, time extensions, budget reallocations, and monitoring reporting from inception to close-out on behalf of the school/department/program.
  • Serve as liaison between faculty, staff, and sponsors to advise and/or assist with the preparation and submission of proposals, review documentation for compliance with University, legal, and cost accounting standards, and other guidelines.
  • Processes and approves contract and grant related documents such as (but not limited to) subcontract invoices for payment to ensure the correct accounting and contractual elements are in place.
  • Trains employees and/or conducts conferences/workshops in proposal development, electronic research administration, internal processes and procedures, agency requirements and award management.
  • May write, edit, and proofread text of contracts and grants including reorganizing content for better flow, rewording for clarity, and editing to comply with APA or other style guidelines.
  • May perform other accounting duties, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Level I: Requires Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field with 0 years experience
Typical Salary is $19.70 – $22.52 per hour
Full Salary range is $16.88 – $25.34 per hour

Level II: Requires Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field with 2 years experience in the management of contracts and grants
Typical Salary is $21.65 – $24.74 per hour
Full Salary range is $18.56 – $27.84 per hour

Level III : Requires Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field with 4 years experience in the management of contracts and grants
Typical Salary is $24.63 – $28.73 per hour
Full Salary range is $20.53 – $32.84 per hour

Substitution allowed for Education: When a candidate has the required experience, but lacks the required education, they may normally apply additional relevant experience toward the education requirement, at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education.

Substitution allowed for Experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
