The Office of Professional & Career Development is seeking to hire highly motivated and hardworking College of Business undergraduate students for Peer Instructor positions to assist with the Professional Development I, II, & IV courses (BUSI 1010, BUSI 2010, and BUSI 4010) for Fall 2024. The position works for the instructor assigned to each BUSI 1010/2010/4010 class section along with a team of Peer Instructors on class administration, attendance/grading, and other BUSI 1010/2010/4010/ OPCD duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Provide general course support for 1-2 class sections of BUSI 1010/2010/4010 to include attending all assigned class sessions; taking attendance; copying/distributing handouts and forms; grading assignments under supervision; answering questions/providing information to students; making class announcements; completing assigned repetitive tasks and projects with deadlines; and other general office duties as needed.
  • Attend BUSI 1010/2010/4010 Peer Instructor training sessions and meetings, as required, to learn the duties and responsibilities of the position and to adapt to changes as needed.
  • Hold an office hour in the OPCD once a week for the duration of the semester, typically during 10:00-1:00 P.M.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required to possess and maintain an Overall and Major GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Currently registered as an Auburn University undergraduate student in the College of Business, and if selected, must maintain status as a College of Business major.
  • Previously taken and passed BUSI 1010, BUSI 2010 or BUSI 4010 with a B or above.
  • Basic Excel Skills are required; knowledge of Google-Docs and of Canvas.
  • Commitment to work up to 15 hours per week and commitment to attend all staff meetings and trainings.
  • Professional dress and demeanor.
  • Flexibility in scheduling.
  • Reliability and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team are essential.
  • Required to be able to take feedback, and to be directed by other students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to understand professional boundaries.
  • Organization skills are critical, as are the ability to work independently and to take initiative.
  • Communication (including email etiquette) and customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to consult other students on resumes and/or cover letters.
