The College of Human Sciences is excited to recruit candidates for Community Engagement Coordinator for the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management. The Community Engagement Coordinator assists in the planning and execution of community and private events in the state-of-the-art Tony and Libba Rane Culinary Science Center. The coordinator will have the opportunity to interact with professional chefs, sommeliers, faculty, and industry leaders to develop programming, and interface with event guests including donors, the general public and Auburn University stakeholders. This position requires exemplary hospitality and communication skills as well as attention to detail.

Temporary Employment Services ( TES ), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work

Essential Functions

  • Developing event proposals, budgets, and marketing plans.
  • Organizing event logistics and administration including food orders, equipment rentals, room reservations, and vendor agreements.
  • Executing events with a high standard of excellence.
  • Coordinating event staffing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • 8 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in hospitality, event planning and/or customer service.

  • Strong customer service and hospitality skills.
  • Willingness to learn and be trained.
