Job Summary

The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Communications & Marketing Specialist. This individual will support the development of content strategy and tactics for the college’s social media platforms and will also contribute photography and video content.

The ideal candidate will be someone with strong writing and multimedia storytelling skills who understands social media and content marketing best practices.

Temporary Employment Services ( TES ), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work

Essential Functions

  • Assists college’s Director of Communications & Marketing in developing social media strategy and ensuring alignment with the college’s mission and strategic priorities
  • Manages creative and technical elements of social media, including content creation, online engagement monitoring, and curation of a content calendar
  • Supports execution of social media strategies and tactics to grow follower acquisition and engagement across multiple social media platforms
  • Works in partnership with Director of Communications & Marketing and key internal partners to ensure consistent and strategic messaging.
  • Works with faculty, staff, students and alumni to identify and develop effective storytelling opportunities, proactive offer recommendations, and remain current on social media trends
  • Tracks social media performance, utilizing analytics tools, creating monthly reports for each platform
  • Assists in planning and scheduling posts, monitoring and moderating audience engagement, and supporting social media advertising campaigns (including ad development, audience targeting, and analysis of ad performance)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field.

Desired Qualifications

Experience utilizing social media management tools (examples: HootSuite, Hubspot) and video editing tools (Example: Premier Pro, iMovie).

Salary Range

Salary Range $20.76 – $31.15/hour
