Job Description
As Cambridge House’s IT Manager, you will be a technical leader, instrumental in bringing our systems, processes, and support infrastructure online, before opening, and maintaining them to the highest standards afterwards. You will work closely with external specialists and internal team members.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and influence the technology landscape from the ground up by developing and establishing procedures, SOPs, and standards that will guide future operations and drive innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the commissioning and setup of all hotel IT/engineering systems in collaboration with external technicians, ensuring everything meets or exceeds luxury hotel standards.
- Oversee daily IT/engineering operations: ensure that all systems (hardware and software) perform reliably – including any AV, guest services tech, building management systems, workstations, etc.
- Train, mentor and support duty engineers and other technical team members to troubleshoot systems, follow best practices, and deliver seamless support.
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve technical issues, working either hands-on or coordinating with engineers and external contractors, ensuring minimal disruption to guests and operations.
- Maintain records of all systems, installations, equipment, licenses; ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are in place and adhered to.
- Ensure that system documentation and user-guides are prepared so that all team members understand how to use and maintain the systems.
- Work with relevant departments (housekeeping, front office, food & beverage, guest services) to understand their technology-needs and ensure their technical tools are functioning correctly.
- Assist with procurement of IT hardware & software, in consultation with external specialists, ensuring quality, suitability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain a strong awareness of latest technologies and “best-in-class” engineering practices so Cambridge House remains at the cutting edge, utilising the latest technology from lead manufacturers.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience (typically 5+ years) in an IT engineering or technical role, preferably in luxury hotels.
- Hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art engineering systems: familiarity with advanced building technologies, AV systems, guest-facing tech, automation, etc.
- Proven ability to train and supervise duty engineers.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills: diagnosing complex technical problems, working under pressure, and delivering solutions with elegance and calm.
- Strong communication skills: you must be able to explain technical issues in accessible language to team members and departments who are non-technical.
- Solid organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to keep accurate documentation and to organise preventative maintenance schedules.
- A proactive mindset: someone who anticipates issues, seeks continuous improvement, and takes pride in ensuring reliability.
- Understanding of security and data protection in technical systems.
