As Head of Cigars at Cambridge House, you will be responsible for the creation, development and daily management of our cigar offering. You will bring deep expertise, refined taste and a thoughtful, guest‑focused approach, ensuring every interaction feels personal, knowledgeable and deliberate. Key Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with suppliers and distributors, sourcing exclusive and quality cigars, positioning Cambridge House as a destination for cigar discovery and exploration.
- Curate and maintain a world‑class cigar collection by building a balanced and considered portfolio that honours established cigar houses while introducing distinctive producers.
- Regularly refine the selection to reflect availability, seasonality and guest preference.
- Oversee the management and condition of the humidor, ensuring optimal storage and presentation at all times.
- Maintain precise control of humidity and temperature, ensuring every cigar is kept in perfect condition while presenting the humidor as an elegant and inviting focal point.
- Provide expert, intuitive guidance to guests, tailoring recommendations to individual preferences and occasions.
- Engage guests with confidence, warmth and discretion.
- Collaborate with team members such as the Beverage Director, to create thoughtful cigar pairings to deliver and host tailored experiences and tastings that feel personal, engaging and well considered.
- Lead the cigar service on a daily basis, setting the tone for a refined yet welcoming atmosphere.
- Oversee daily operations with a calm, attentive approach, ensuring a consistently polished and comfortable guest experience.
- Train and guide team members in cigar knowledge and service standards, ensuring confidence and consistency.
- Ensure all regulatory and compliance standards are met with care and diligence relating to cigar storage and service with accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Cigar qualifications, such as MoHC, are highly desired.
- Proven experience in a senior cigar‑focused role within a luxury hotel, private members’ club or specialist environment.
- Deep knowledge of cigar origins, production methods, ageing, storage and service.
- A refined understanding of luxury service, with an emphasis on discretion and personalisation.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing inventory and supplier relationships.
- Confident communicator, able to engage a diverse and international clientele with ease.
- A calm, considered presence, with exceptional attention to detail.
