Aubay UK is seeking an experienced Senior C++ Software Engineer – Electronic Trading to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for developing and supporting a global derivatives algorithmic trading platform.

Working closely with Traders, Quantitative Analysts, and Technology teams, the successful candidate will help design, build, enhance, and optimise low-latency trading systems, exchange connectivity solutions, and trading engines that support global electronic trading operations.

This role requires deep C++ engineering expertise, a strong understanding of exchange-traded derivatives, and experience developing high-performance trading applications within Trading, Capital Markets, or Investment Banking environments. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on reliability, scalability, and performance.

Location: London, Hybrid (2-3 Days Onsite)

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of professional C++ software development experience within Financial Services, Capital Markets, or Trading environments
• 8+ years of experience working within Trading, Capital Markets, or Investment Banking organisations
• Strong understanding of exchange-traded derivatives and the full trade lifecycle
• Knowledge of major global futures exchanges and exchange connectivity protocols
• Experience building high-performance, low-latency, distributed systems
• Strong knowledge of multithreaded, asynchronous, and parallel programming
• Excellent understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles
• Experience with FIX, WebSocket, HTTP, or similar trading and messaging protocols
• Strong scripting and development skills using Python, SQL, C#, PowerShell, or similar technologies
• Experience supporting production trading environments and troubleshooting complex issues
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience developing algorithmic or electronic trading platforms
• Experience building exchange gateways, feed handlers, or order management systems
• Knowledge of kernel bypass, network optimisation, and low-latency engineering techniques
• Experience working with exchange SDKs and market connectivity solutions
• Experience with Rust, TypeScript, or additional programming languages
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and platform performance tuning
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices
• Experience collaborating directly with Front Office users, Quants, and Traders
• Understanding of compliance, regulatory, and control requirements within trading environments

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance trading applications and exchange connectivity solutions
• Develop exchange integrations using protocols such as FIX, WebSocket, and HTTP APIs
• Build and enhance trading algorithms based on requirements from Traders and Quantitative teams
• Optimise system performance, latency, scalability, and reliability across trading platforms
• Develop and maintain feed handlers, trading gateways, and execution components
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, performance issues, and system defects
• Improve monitoring, observability, resilience, and operational support capabilities
• Support software releases, deployments, and production platform upgrades
• Work closely with Traders, Quants, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Contribute to architecture decisions, technical design, and engineering best practices
• Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, documentation, and software delivery
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve platform performance, stability, and operational efficiency
