Aubay UK is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst with strong expertise in E/CTRM, Veson IMOS (VIP) and LNG trading to join our client, a leading international energy company. This role plays a key part in driving their trading transformation, delivering strategic technology solutions that align with long-term business goals. The successful candidate will work closely with both commercial and IT stakeholders to define requirements, manage product backlogs, and support application delivery that enhances trading strategies, risk management, and operational efficiency.
The position requires significant travel to Doha, Qatar, with approximately 75% travel (up to 30 days at a time). Further details on travel commitments will be shared during the interview process.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in technology or finance from an internationally recognized university.
- Minimum of 9 years of work experience in Commodities trading with leading IOCs, trading houses, NOCs, or vendors in change, process, and technology.
- Strong experience in designing and implementing solutions in both E/CTRM and Veson IMOS (VIP) to enhance trading strategies, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
- Strong understanding of commodity markets (LNG preferred), trading strategies, related organization, processes, risk management principles, and related technology solutions (C/ETRM, IMOS, Trading Platforms, Market Analytics, etc).
- End-to-end, multi-disciplinary knowledge in Commodities trading, Shipping, and Finance with advanced knowledge of the front-to-back-office trade lifecycle and downstream interfaces.
- Specialized experience in Chartering and shipping operations including voyage management, vessel performance, voyage reporting, and bunker management.
- Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to work with the unknown, own problems, and make decisions.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
- Proven ability to manage backlog and relevant documentation with development teams.
- Familiar with IT standards & best practices, architecture, integration, and methods.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate concepts appropriately to management, stakeholders, and vendors.
- High proficiency with workplace applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), project management and collaboration tools (e.g. MS Project, Azure DevOps / Confluence Jira, Miro/Mural etc). Comfortable working with SQL queries and Excel.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Enthusiastic and passionate about technology as an enabler in commodities trading.
- Practical experience with agile frameworks.
- PMP or Prince2 certification is an advantage.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist delivery of the strategic vision for the client\’s transformation, aligning it with long-term goals and architecture.
- Work with key stakeholders to elaborate requirements, design, and implement efficient application solutions.
- Manage product backlogs and collaborate with technical teams on implementation.
- Work collaboratively and bring parties together from within IT and the commercial functions.
- Work directly with business teams, adopting a customer-first approach and communicating effectively across different levels and disciplines.
- Assist with understanding the impact of business change and support business teams in onboarding and implementing such changes.
- Provide expert support and required technical services to QET on related applications, in coordination with other ICT entities.
