Aubay is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to act as the domain expert translating complex physical oil trading workflows into build‑ready requirements for our client’s revolutionary AI‑driven logistics platform. The role partners closely with the Product Manager across discovery and delivery, works directly with traders, operators, schedulers and back‑office teams, supports backlog refinement and QA, and participates in regular client visits including international travel. The environment is a fast‑paced, low‑ego startup, requiring high ownership, strong contribution and comfort working across multicultural teams in the UK, Portugal, Singapore, India and other regions. The role is hybrid with an expectation of attending the client office in London 2-3 days per week.

Required skills and experience

  • Around 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 3+ years as an oil products operator or scheduler transitioning into product
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of the physical oil trade lifecycle from execution through settlement
  • Familiarity with multiple modes of transport including marine, pipeline, rail, truck and barge
  • Experience eliciting and documenting requirements such as user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data models and functional specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work with data
  • Experience with CTRM/ETRM systems such as RightAngle, Allegro or Endur
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Excellent communication skills for internal collaboration and client‑facing interactions
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 40%
  • Comfortable working in multicultural, distributed teams

Desired skills and experience

  • Exposure to AI‑driven intelligent document processing
  • Familiarity with blockchain or distributed ledger technologies
  • Awareness of regulatory frameworks such as REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II or sanctions regimes
  • Understanding of adjacent areas such as P&L reporting, position management, funding, compliance, tax and insurance
  • Experience in early‑stage or high‑growth technology environments
  • Ability to operate with high ownership, low ego and strong contribution in a startup setting
  • Comfort with hybrid working and regular client‑facing delivery

Role Responsibilities

  • Elicit detailed business and user requirements through workshops, shadowing and process analysis
  • Translate operational workflows into clear user stories with acceptance criteria
  • Produce process flows, lifecycle maps, data models and functional specifications
  • Collaborate daily with traders, operators, schedulers, originators and back‑office teams to validate needs and solutions
  • Refine and groom backlog items with the Product Manager and development team
  • Act as subject‑matter expert for physical oil trading and logistics across all modes of transport
  • Participate in client meetings and international site visits
  • Contribute proactively to a fast‑paced, collaborative culture
