About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Technician to lead the delivery of technical support across Film Production. This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable industry professional to play a key role in supporting teaching, learning and creative production activities while leading a team of technicians in a dynamic and innovative environment. You will provide operational leadership, manage technical resources and ensure students have access to industry-standard equipment, facilities and expertise across all areas of film production.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in technical film production and digital cinematography, with specialist knowledge of professional camera systems, ideally including ARRI Alexa. Working closely with academic staff, production management staff and students, you will oversee the provision of technical support across camera, lighting, grip, sound recording, data management, studio and post-production workflows. You will deliver training, inductions and technical demonstrations, whilst ensuring facilities, equipment and working practices reflect current industry standards and emerging technologies.

As a member of the Technical Services leadership team, you will have line management responsibility for technical staff, supporting workforce planning, staff development and performance management processes. You will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills, capable of managing competing priorities, coordinating resources and building effective relationships across the University. We are looking for a collaborative and proactive leader who is passionate about supporting student success and developing outstanding technical provision within a creative higher education environment.
