We are looking for a Seasonal Assistant Ecologist to help us carry out dusk emergence bat surveys throughout the West Midlands and Cotswolds. It’s a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week over 5 days (Monday - Friday), 6 month fixed term contract starting mid-April, finishing mid-October.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team members with dusk emergence bat surveys; deploying and monitoring detection equipment, taking notes of bat activity, and reacting to adjust or redeploy equipment in response to observations.
  • Organising survey equipment; downloading data and ensuring kit is ready and available for the next survey.
  • Processing survey data following company processes with the assistance of AI.
  • Basic reporting; providing feedback to project managers and inputting data to report templates.
  • Valuable field experience working on a variety of bat survey projects using the latest survey technologies and innovative processes.
  • Opportunities to assist with other protected species and habitat surveys may be available depending on workload and project needs.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • A reliable, motivated and enthusiastic team player with good attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time keeping skills to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work unsociable hours; mostly evenings / late nights with potential for occasional early mornings.
  • Full driving licence and own transport to attend sites within 1.5hr travel of our Malvern office.
  • An interest in wildlife conservation and a career in ecology.
  • Previous survey experience advantageous but not essential.
