Attribution Search is partnered with a leading global trading firm looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer into its centralised Data Platform team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly technical environment responsible for building and operating large-scale data infrastructure supporting traders, quantitative researchers, and business teams across the firm. The role sits within a modern data engineering function focused on distributed systems, data platform architecture, vendor data onboarding, and large-scale production pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and managing scalable data products and ingestion pipelines
  • Supporting both batch and real-time streaming data ecosystems
  • Working closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and stakeholders to onboard and manage new datasets
  • Developing and maintaining production‑grade data transformations and ETL workflows
  • Designing data governance, quality control, monitoring, and access management processes
  • Managing vendor ingestion pipelines and supporting operational reliability across production systems
  • Contributing to platform migrations, orchestration improvements, and large‑scale data infrastructure initiatives
  • Supporting monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimisation of distributed data systems

Must Have

  • 5+ years’ experience building modern data platforms and production‑grade data pipelines
  • Strong understanding of data modelling techniques and distributed data architectures
  • Experience working with large‑scale batch and streaming data ecosystems
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to operate effectively within fast‑paced trading environments
  • Ability to work closely with technical and non‑technical stakeholders across multiple teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Spark, Flink, Polars, or Dask
  • Exposure to modern storage technologies such as S3, Delta/Iceberg, Cassandra, ClickHouse, Kafka, or NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with orchestration platforms such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, Argo, or Kubernetes
  • Experience with modern serialization and data formats such as Parquet, Arrow, Avro, or Protobuf
  • Strong operational experience supporting large‑scale production pipelines and data quality processes
