The firm is known for its research-driven culture, industry-leading technology platform, and long track record of delivering stable, uncorrelated performance. With offices across the US, Europe and Asia, this is an opportunity to join a highly respected engineering function that underpins a mission-critical quantitative trading environment.
The Role
You will join the Production Systems Group, responsible for the reliability, resilience, automation and observability of real-time trading systems. This is not a traditional support role; you will write code, design tooling, contribute to system architecture, and play a key part in the fund's global follow-the-sun engineering model. The ideal candidate combines strong systems engineering fundamentals with excellent debugging skills, an automation-first mindset, and the ability to operate calmly under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automated tooling for system deployments, monitoring, alerting and operational workflows.
- Monitor the health of distributed trading systems with a focus on proactive failure prevention.
- Own and improve incident response, root cause analysis and blameless post-mortems.
- Work closely with developers to design scalable, testable and reliable deployment pipelines.
- Partner with trading, quant and operations teams, as well as external vendors, to troubleshoot and optimise the production environment.
Experience Required
- 3+ years supporting trading systems within a hedge fund or buyside firm.
- Deep experience working across Linux systems, including performance, networking and security debugging.
- Strong Python (OO) and Bash scripting capabilities.
- Proven background in observability, monitoring, incident response and improving operational resilience.
- Breadth across infrastructure technologies (operating systems, databases, scripting languages, CI/CD, and configuration management).
Technology Environment
- Languages: Python (core requirement), Bash; T-SQL desirable.
- Operating Systems: Strong Linux fundamentals; some Windows exposure beneficial.
- Automation / CI/CD: GitHub, TeamCity, Ansible; Terraform and Kubernetes highly advantageous.
- Monitoring & Observability: Datadog, Grafana, and modern log/metrics pipelines.
- Cloud: Experience with AWS or hybrid cloud environments desirable (HPC, batch compute, container orchestration).
- Databases: MS SQL Server; Snowflake experience a plus.
This is a chance to join a world-class systematic trading firm, contribute directly to the reliability and evolution of its production platform, and work alongside exceptional technologists in a high-impact, engineering-led environment.
